A New Samsung Tablet Caught on Camera – Is it the Galaxy Note 8?

A New Samsung Tablet Caught on Camera – Is it the Galaxy Note 8?

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 is rumored for an official unveiling at Mobile World Congress next week in Barcelona, but for few days there are a lot of rumors regarding its look and specs.  Earlier this week we saw a leaked brochure shot of the upcoming Note 8, and now an Italian tech blog DDAY.it has a couple of photographs captured with a camera and hinting at its being what Samsung would be unveiling at the MWC 2103 at Barcelona.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 rumored to feature a 8.0”1280×800 TFT (Super Clear LCD) display, 5 Megapixel rear and 1.3 Megapixel front camera, 1.6 gHz quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM, and a 4600 mAh battery. The mini tablet device shown in the pictures reveal that the Note 8 will look very much like a blown up version of the Galaxy Note 2 with a physical Home button at the  bottom and a rear camera without flash. On the left and right  sides of the Home button, there are two familiar touch-sensitive keys for options and back. You can clearly see a stylus pen holster at the right bottom corner metal framing.
The similarity between the earlier rumors and the current leaked pictures are enough to convince us that the Galaxy Note 8 is no more a secret at least, though it has been unveiled officially. Take a look at all the images, set them on the back of your mind and wait for the MWC 2013.

Dell’s Project Ophelia Plug can Turn any TV/Monitor into an Android PC

Dell’s Project Ophelia Plug can Turn any TV/Monitor into an Android PC

Dell Project Ophelia-2

If you remember, we published an interesting news about an emulator software that could let you run Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on your very Windows PC. And really, it was a fun experiencing Android on the wide screen of our computer. How would you feel if can use Android OS with which you are so familiar on a huge TV screen or monitor? According to CNet, Dell is working on a new creation, a small USB plug ,which it calls Project Ophelia, that can turn any TV or monitor that supports USB into a computer using Android 4.1.2.
Once plugged to a compatible monitor, you will be able to experience exactly same the interface  as you’d expect to see on a regular Android tablet device. The device lets users access locally-stored files, plus it allows for remote access to other desktops and the Google Play store, including apps, movies, and television shows. The plug can store up to 8GB of internal storage, but this can easily be expanded by using the device’s microSD slot. Additionally, you can use PocketCloud to connect to your home computer and access all of your files without over-burdening the internal storage of the plug. It’s really a smart idea.

The Project Ophelia plug runs on a 1.6GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor and being Google accredited, you will be able to access all the apps from the Google Play Store. The best thing about the story is that it be launched with as low a price as $100. Are you prepared to carry your computer into your pockets!

Celebrating Android’s 5th anniversary

Celebrating Android’s 5th anniversary

It was 5 years from today that the world  was put into a new tech era. It was T-mobile G1 and Android together who cracked the party crackers which seemingly never plan to stop throwing out excitement and entertainment.

T-Mobile and Google had been working for months and months with a small team in Building 44 in Mountain View, CA as they were preparing the world’s most growing software. Before the actual “Homescreen” could be designed, they had 9 different versions of it and still weren’t certain if they had seen the last and the final one. The Android team ( Hiroshi Lockheimer, Des Smith,  Keva NelsonDavid ConwayGrace KlobaPeisun WuErick TsengGerman Bauer - just to name a few) was itself as excited as the tech lovers were. The world was about to be changed, as the original Android team’s member says as he reports his experience, “We were about to change the world”. How well did he predict! It took them months before they could officially launch the Android and T-mobile G1. For the lauch and press release, 50 prototypes were presented of the G1.
Going back the memory lane, when the Android was launched, Blackberry was the talk of the hour and iPhone had just been launched nearly an year before. But, Android turned the tables. Now, Android is what the world cares about. I mean how many of you actually care about what Blackberry is up for?
Android_4.3_Jelly_Bean_on_NexusThe day Android was launched was a big success- just look at Android now. Android being an open source nevers forgets to excite coders and bloggers and hence has been growing ever since it was born. To have a glance at what Android actually is and where exactly does it stand today, take a minute to read through..
Google engineered Android and its own apps work perfectly on it. Android brings you everything that you can ever imagine or think of. It is a linux- based operating system that was unveiled in 2007, under the Apache license. The first Android device was sold back in October 2008. The green Android logo was designed by graphic designer Irina Blok.
It is an open source software that permits modification and reproduced by enthusiast developers. Plus Android has a large community of develops that are on their way to keep developing new apps that are based on Java programming launguage.
By the end of 2012 Android gave a huge range of 700,000 apps and an approximated number of app downloads wre reported to be 25 billion. More than 71% of the mobile developer population works on Android development. These figures make Android the most used operating system worlwide. Today, it has 1.5 billion apps which clearly shows how fast it is growing.
In a nutshell, Android is everywhere today. It is in the device I am holding right now. I can wear it on my wrist as a Smartwatch. I can play games, produce amazing peice of art with it, capture life, work and even write this post on it. Android devices being available in all sizes and falling in all price ranges tend to be the mostly used devices around the world.
Happy 5th anniversary, Android!
Hope you enjoyed this little trip down the memory lane with us and found it informative.

Skepticism as North Korea launches 'home-grown' Arirang smartphone

Skepticism as North Korea launches 'home-grown' Arirang smartphone

NORTH Korea's announcement that it is mass producing a home-grown smartphone has been met with skepticism in the global tech industry. The North's state media last week showed leader Kim Jong Un inspecting "Arirang" phones at a Pyongyang factory.
On August 10, a Korean Central News Agency report said the factory began manufacturing smartphones "a few days ago" and they were already in high demand.
North Korea has promoted the development of science and technology as a means of improving its moribund economy. It says it developed a tablet computer last year and has its own Red Star operating system.
But access to the global Internet is severely restricted and mobile phones used on the state-authorised network cannot make overseas calls.
The North's Intranet gives access to government sanctioned sites and works with its own browsers, search engine and email programs, according to South Korea's Unification Ministry.
Factory workers in photos released by the state news agency are inspecting and testing finished phones but no manufacturing is shown, said tech expert Martyn Williams on the northkoreatech.org blog.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un inspects the Arirang smartphones which he claims went into production earlier this month. Picture: Korean Central News Agency/AFP
"Despite KCNA's reporting that the handsets are made at the factory, they are probably made to order by a Chinese manufacturer," said Williams, who writes for PC World and other publications.
South Korean computer experts say North Korea is strong enough in software technology to have launched cyberattacks that disrupted banking and government websites in the South, but it lags in hardware capabilities behind South Korea.
The 1950-53 Korean War ended in a truce and the Korean Peninsula remains technically at war.
Since then, the South has prospered and produced giant corporations such as Samsung Electronics Co., which is the world's biggest maker of smartphones, computer memory chips and displays.
The North's economy has languished under socialist central planning, though the capital Pyongyang is an oasis of relative affluence.
Ewha Institute of Unification Studies research fellow Kang Ho Jye said it is conceivable that North Korea has developed a smartphone given it has launched long-range missiles and tested nuclear weapons.
He said the country has also shown a persistent interest in computer technology since the early 1980s, but it might face difficulties in securing the necessary components for mass production.
"If people believe it is impossible for North Korea to make smartphones because it lags in technology, that's not right," he said.
"If people believe it is impossible because they are wondering how North Korea supplied components, then that makes sense."
North Korea said the Arirang phone features "Korean-style" apps and can be used for "communications and learning." It sports a high-resolution camera and a touch screen.
Kim Mun-gu, a manager at a South Korean mobile phone company, said the Arirang smartphone appears to be using the Android operating system. He said the photos aren't convincing as proof the North is manufacturing the phones.
"It looks too clean for a factory. If it's a factory, there should be components. There seemed to be machines but I can't tell whether they are operating or not," he said.
The "May 11 Factory" where North Korea says it is producing smartphones has been promoted as the country's hub for research, development and production of high-tech electronics.
Kim's previous visit to the factory was in July 2011 to see what state media called an automated production system for LCD televisions - an announcement also doubted abroad.
Kim, who became leader after his father Kim Jong Il's death in late 2011, said making phones based on home-grown technology "can instill national pride and self-respect into the Korean people," according to KCNA.

Everything you need to know about Apple's iPhone 5S and 5C

Everything you need to know about Apple's iPhone 5S and 5C

AUSTRALIANS will be the first to get the new iPhone but, for the first time, Apple fans will have to make a real choice.

Apple launched two iPhone models today: the iPhone 5C which has been described as the "budget" model despite a starting price of $A739, and the high-end iPhone 5S which has a fingerprint scanner built in to the home button.
Apple CEO Tim Cook called the iPhone 5S "the most advanced iPhone ever with our most forward-thinking technologies".
Both the iPhone 5C and the iPhone 5S has the same screen size as the current iPhone 5. They both also have a 8 megapixel camera.
For more details, follow our live coverage of the Apple event here.
The iPhone 5S runs on the new A7 chip. Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller said the 64-bit chip was the "first ever in a phone of any kind".

Apple has launched the new iPhone 5C model that will run iOS 7 and is made from hard-coated polycarbonate and comes in various colours.
"I don't think the other guys are even talking about it yet," he said.
The rumours of a fingerprint scanner built into the home button of the iPhone 5S have proved correct.
The Touch ID technology can be used to unlock your phone or to confirm your identity when making purchases at iTunes and the app store.
Apple said each person's identification details would be stored on the phone and not on an Apple server.

The phone will run on iOS7, the new mobile operating system announced at WWDC in June.
The iPhone 5, which is already the world's most popular camera, is about to be usurped.
The iPhone 5S will have a new lens, made up of five elements, that has a f2.2 aperture, a step up from the f2.4 in the iPhone 5. That wider lens will help boost the camera's ability to take pictures in low light.
The camera remains, like with the iPhone 5, an 8 megapixel camera but also boosting the camera's powers will be a 15 per cent larger sensor and a new flash that adjusts colour and brightness for more than 1000 combinations.

The camera will have burst mode, capable of taking 10 frames per second, and a slow-mo video which can shoot 120 frames per second.
The iPhone 5S comes in three colours: gold, silver and "space grey" also known as black. Apple is selling a range of leather cases that come in beige, black, blue, brown, yellow and red.
Apple says the battery of the iPhone 5S will match or better the battery in the iPhone 5, which might disappoint many iPhone fans who find battery power the biggest weakness of the phone.
Apple says the battery in the iPhone 5S will give up to 10 hours of web browsing on 4G networks.
The iPhone 5S will be available in Australia on September 20 for $A869 for the 16GB model, $A999 for the 32GB model and $A1129 for the 64GB model. The leather cases, which come in six colours, for $A51.
The iPhone 5C comes a polycarbonate one piece case that is available in five colours: blue, green, pink, yellow and white. Reviewers have said that the 5C's price may be low but consumers shouldn't think of it as cheap and nasty. First impressions show that it feels sturdy and reliable.
